I’m tired of logging on tracking calories, now what?

Chances are you are here because you’ve been tracking every bite you take with a calorie tracking app and you're feeling stuck and unsure of how to keep going with your healthy eating habits.

If you want healthy eating habits to stick around for the long run you have to put in the work to understand what to eat for your goals, but also for your overall health.

3 tips for healthy eating for weight loss without calorie counting:

  • Learn what creating a balanced meal looks like. Using a guide like the Plate Method can help you build out healthy meals without tracking the specifics of calories. You will be focusing on getting plenty of whole food nutrition: vegetables, fruits, lean protein, grains/starches, and healthy fats.

  • Set a consistent eating routine. No one likes a hangry friend. Avoid going into a meal feeling starving and out of control to eat whatever is in sight/easiest option. Set a consistent eating schedule to follow.

  • Use a written journal/planner. You can track your foods without associating specific calories. Focus on getting plenty of whole food nutrition and including all foods as part of a healthy diet. By writing it down, you can identify what food groups you might be missing from your diet. Try a simple notebook or something more organized like this

You don’t have to obsess over or track everything you eat extremely closely to lose weight and keep it off. Start with understanding what your current routine/habits are then start to implement 1-2 small changes at a time. Tracking calories can be helpful for a period of time but you need to put in the work to better understand what and why you're eating to get these healthy eating habits to stick.
